How Much More Can We Take?

The Bible teaches us that God is a God of abundance, not scarcity. He is the Creator of the universe and all its resources, and He delights in providing for His people. When we pray for bread, He will give us a fish as well (Matthew 15:33-34). When we give to Him, He multiplies our gifts and makes them abound (2 Corinthians 9:8). This principle of abundance is not limited to physical provision; it also applies to spiritual blessings. When we seek to know God, He reveals Himself to us in greater measure (Jeremiah 29:13). When we seek to serve Him, He gives us the power and wisdom to accomplish His will (Philippians 4:13).

The problem is that we often limit God's ability to bless us by our own narrow expectations and lack of faith. We ask for a little, and God gives us much. We give a little, and God multiplies our gifts. But we often settle for less than what God has in store for us. We are like the woman who used only three measures of meal to make bread, when God could have multiplied it to feed a multitude (2 Kings 4:42-44). We are like the rich young ruler who gave up too little to follow Jesus, when God was willing to give him everything (Mark 10:17-22).

The question is not "How much more can we take?" but "How much more will we trust God to give?" Will we settle for a little, or will we seek to know God's abundance? Will we give a little, or will we seek to multiply our gifts? The answer is not in the quantity of our giving or receiving, but in the quality of our trust in God. When we trust Him, He will give us more than we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). When we seek to know Him, He will reveal Himself to us in greater measure (Jeremiah 29:13). The key is not to limit God's ability to bless us, but to trust in His abundance and provision.
