Biblical Answer

When everything seems to be going wrong, it can be challenging to trust God. The Bible teaches that we can trust God, even in the midst of difficulties, because He is sovereign and all-powerful (Psalm 31:19, Isaiah 41:10). God wants us to trust Him, not just when things are going well, but also when they seem to be going wrong (Matthew 9:29). This trust is not based on our own understanding or control, but on God's character and His promise to always be with us (Deuteronomy 31:6).

The Bible also teaches that God will not let us be tested more than we can bear, and He will make a way out so that we can bear it (1 Corinthians 10:13). This means that even in the midst of difficulties, God is working out His plan for our good and His glory. We can trust God because He is holy love, and He will not betray our trust (Psalm 22:5, Romans 9:33, 10:11, 1 Peter 2:6). When we trust God, we are not trying to control the outcome, but rather surrendering to His will and sovereignty.

To develop a knack for trusting God consistently, we need to respond to Him in obedience and perseverance. This means throwing ourselves on the eternal truth that God is holy love, even when we don't understand what He is doing (Isaiah 50:10-11). We need to learn to go beyond all confidence in ourselves and others, and place our trust in God alone (Proverbs 3:5-6). As we do this, we will develop mental composure and faith, and we will be able to say, "I will trust Him, yet will I trust Him" (Job 13:15). Ultimately, trusting God is not about feeling a certain way, but about choosing to believe and rely on Him, even when everything seems to be going wrong. (Psalm 119:173) (Psalm 138:8).
