Starting Over at 65: A New Chapter

As we approach the age of 65, many of us feel a sense of uncertainty and unease about what the future holds. We may feel like we've lost our sense of purpose or direction, or that we're no longer contributing to the world in meaningful ways. But I want to encourage you that this is a new chapter, full of opportunity for growth, renewal, and transformation. It's a time to re-evaluate our priorities, to let go of things that no longer serve us, and to lean into the Lord for guidance and wisdom.

The Bible teaches us that God is the one who gives us life, and that He is the one who can give us a new start, no matter what our age or circumstances. As the psalmist wrote, "You turn people back to dust, saying, 'Return to dust, you mortals'" (Psalm 90:3). But then He says, "A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night" (Psalm 90:4). This means that God sees time differently than we do. He sees the big picture, and He knows that every moment, every season, and every stage of life is an opportunity for growth and transformation.

So, how do we start over at 65? First, we need to let go of our old identities and assumptions about who we are and what we're capable of. We need to be willing to learn, to grow, and to adapt to new circumstances. We need to be open to the Lord's guidance and wisdom, and to trust that He has a plan for us, even when we can't see it. And we need to be willing to take risks, to step out in faith, and to trust that God will give us the strength and the courage we need to navigate this new chapter of life. As the Bible says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). Let's trust in the Lord, and see what He has in store for us in this new chapter of life.
