How do I even start to heal?
Healing can be a complex and multifaceted process, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. While medical treatment and self-care practices like regular exercise can be helpful in alleviating physical pain, they may not be enough to bring about deeper levels of healing. This is where faith and spiritual practices come in. As we seek to heal, we must consider the role of God in our lives and how He chooses to work in our circumstances. The Bible teaches us that God is sovereign and that He can choose to heal or not heal, but that we should pray and seek His will in our lives.
The Bible provides many examples of people who were healed through prayer and faith, such as the apostle Paul, who was told by Jesus to drink a little wine for his stomach problems (1 Tim. 5:23). We are also encouraged to seek the prayer of the church, as James instructs us to call upon the elders of the church to anoint us with oil and pray over us for healing (James 5:14-15). However, we must also be aware that God's ways are not always our ways, and that He may choose not to heal us in the way we expect. This can be difficult to accept, especially when we have a faulty theology of suffering, such as the idea that God always wants to heal us because He loves us and has a wonderful plan for our lives.
Ultimately, healing is not just about fixing our physical bodies, but about becoming more like Jesus and experiencing a deeper level of spiritual healing. This requires us to be with Jesus, to pause and turn our hearts towards Him in prayer and love, and to seek His will in our lives. As we do this, we can find hope and comfort in the midst of our suffering, and we can learn to trust in God's sovereignty and goodness, even when we don't understand His ways. By seeking to be with Jesus and to follow His teachings, we can experience a deeper level of healing and become the people He created us to be. We can close the gap between our lives and Jesus' life, and experience the true life that He offers us. This is the key to becoming a saint, and it is the key to finding real hope and healing in our lives.
