Trusting God in the Midst of Uncertainty

Trusting God can be a paradoxical experience, especially when everything falls apart. On one hand, we can trust God because He will not let us be tested more than we can stand (1 Cor. 10:13). On the other hand, trusting God also means recognizing that He has suffered on account of evil and that there is no guarantee that our prayers will be answered in the way we want them to be. This realization can lead to a sense of uncertainty and even doubt.

Developing Trust through Perseverance

However, it is possible to develop a knack for trusting God consistently through perseverance. As we respond to God in obedience, we can learn to trust Him more and more. This is not about trusting our own abilities or the things around us, but about trusting God Himself. We can develop a strong and vigorous confidence in God's holy love, even when we cannot see Him or understand His ways. This kind of faith is not weak or pitiful, but rather it is a genuine biblical faith that trusts in God's character and promises.

Trusting God in the Dark

Trusting God in the midst of uncertainty and difficulty is not easy, but it is possible. We must come to the realization that when all goes wrong, God's way is right. He is still moving on our behalf, wanting our greatest good to come together for His glory. We must trust God in the darkness, even when we cannot see or understand what is happening. As Psalm 31:19 says, "O Lord, be not far from me; you have been my help; do not abandon me or forsake me, O God of my salvation." We can trust that God will strengthen us, help us, and uphold us with His righteous right hand, even in the midst of uncertainty and difficulty. (Isaiah 41:10) As we trust God, we can experience His presence and guidance, even in the darkest of times. (Psalm 23:4) We can come to the realization that God's way is always right, even when our own way seems to be falling apart. (Proverbs 3:5-6) And we can trust that God will ultimately bring good out of our circumstances, even when we cannot see it. (Romans 8:28)
