Can I Really Give Up When Everything is Stacked Against Me?

The question of whether it's okay to give up when everything seems stacked against us is a common one. However, the Bible teaches us that giving up is not always the best option. In fact, Jesus encourages us to "come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). This verse suggests that Jesus is willing to help us carry our burdens, but we need to come to Him first. When we feel like giving up, we need to ask ourselves if we are truly surrendering to Jesus Christ and placing no conditions on how our brokenness will come. This requires us to be broken from our own understanding of ourselves and to be willing to reduce ourselves down to simply who we are, without all the expectations and labels that others may have of us.

The Bible also teaches us that God can do nothing for us until we recognize the limits of what is humanly possible and allow Him to do the impossible. This means that we need to be willing to surrender our lives to God and trust in His sovereignty. When we do this, we can experience the peace and rest that Jesus promises us. However, if we are not willing to surrender, we may feel like giving up is the only option. This is because we are trying to do things on our own strength and ability, rather than trusting in God's power and provision.

So, can we really give up when everything is stacked against us? The answer is no. While it may feel like giving up is the easiest option, it's not always the best one. Instead, we need to come to Jesus and surrender our lives to Him, trusting in His sovereignty and power. This requires us to be broken from our own understanding of ourselves and to be willing to reduce ourselves down to simply who we are. When we do this, we can experience the peace and rest that Jesus promises us, and we can overcome even the most difficult challenges. As the Bible says, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13).
