The Darkness of Unseen Spiritual Reality

The darkness you're experiencing is not just a physical or emotional state, but a spiritual one. It's as if you're unable to see the unseen world around you, including the presence of God. The Bible says, "For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ" (2 Corinthians 4:6). This means that God's presence is not just a physical reality, but a spiritual one that is available to us through faith.

The Limitations of Human Perception

As humans, we're limited in our ability to perceive the spiritual world. Our eyes can't see the angels and other spiritual beings that surround us, and our minds can't comprehend the mysteries of God's presence. The Bible says, "For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known" (1 Corinthians 13:12). This means that our understanding of God's presence is limited, and we can't fully comprehend it until we see Him face to face in heaven.

The Hope of Spiritual Sight

But even in the midst of darkness, there is hope. The Bible says, "And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil" (John 3:19). This means that God's presence is available to us, and we can choose to see it. We can choose to trust in God's goodness and love, even when we don't see Him. As the psalmist says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105). This means that God's word is our guide and our light, even in the darkest of times. We can trust in it, and it will lead us through the darkness to the light.
