Understanding God's Sovereignty in the Midst of Chaos

When everything seems to be falling apart, it's natural to question God's sovereignty and ask, "How can I trust Him in this situation?" The Bible reminds us that disaster occurs in our lives when we lack the mental composure that comes from establishing ourselves on the eternal truth that God is holy love (1 Cor. 10:13). Faith is the supreme effort of our lives, throwing ourselves on the realization that when all goes wrong, God's way is right. He is still moving on our behalf, wanting our greatest good to come together for His glory.

The Paradox of Trusting God

Trusting God can be a paradox, especially in the midst of chaos. On one hand, we need to acknowledge that God is great and all-sufficient, and our trust is only in Him. On the other hand, we often turn to other things, such as our own strength, other people, or even our own prayers, to cope with the situation. However, this is not trusting God; it's usurping His sovereignty. To trust God is to say that we need Jesus, and that our search for self-satisfaction has been a failure. We need to turn to Him, not just in times of crisis, but in every aspect of our lives.

Finding Strength in God's Love

The Bible reminds us that God will not let us be tested more than we can stand, and that He will make a way out so that we can bear it (1 Cor. 10:13). We can also find strength in the knowledge that God's love is greater than any challenge we face. As we establish a prayer-relationship with God, we can experience more peace, less doubt, and less fear. This is because our trust is securely anchored in Him. We can begin to trust Him by getting into the habit of dealing with God about everything, and by believing steadfastly on Him. This will help us to live with a far more comprehensive trust in God in all circumstances and a far greater freedom from worry about the future.
