Understanding Tithing in the Bible

Tithing is a concept that emerges in the Bible as a way for people to acknowledge God as their provider and King. In the Old Testament, tithing was commanded in the Law (Lev. 27:30; Deut. 14:22, etc.). It was meant to be a joyful offering of love, but also a way for the Israelites to provide for those who led them and for those who were needy.
