Can our daily routines bring peace?

Our daily routines can indeed bring peace, but not in the way the world often suggests. While the world may propose that we can achieve peace through our schedules and productivity, the Bible teaches that true peace comes from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When we turn to Christ in faith, we have peace with God and a clear conscience, but we are not guaranteed to have complete peace in all our relationships (Matt. 10:34). The Bible also teaches that peace is a character of salvation, which involves mercy for our need of it and grace as God's free provision of it.

However, our daily routines can still bring us a sense of peace and fulfillment. This can happen when our schedules align with our values, as suggested by Stephen Covey. When we prioritize what is truly important to us, we can experience a sense of alignment and purpose that brings peace. Additionally, as we practice obedience to divine guidance, we can experience a sense of assurance that can lead to peace. But it's essential to recognize that this peace may not be immediate and may not always align with our natural desires. In fact, we may need to suffer in order to experience peace, just as Christ did for us.

In order to acquire inner peace, we need to dive deeper into our relationship with God and align our daily routines with our deepest desires. This requires a willingness to surrender our natural desires and trust in God's sovereignty. As Saint Seraphim of Sarov said, "Acquire inner peace and thousands around you will find their salvation." By prioritizing our relationship with God and living out our values, we can experience true inner peace and fulfillment, even in the midst of challenging circumstances. This peace is not guaranteed to produce bliss and prosperity in the short term, but it can bring a sense of purpose and direction that can transform our lives.
