Biblical Answer

When we face loss, such as losing a business, it is natural to question God's sovereignty and wonder why He allowed it to happen. However, we must reframe our thinking and ask ourselves if we were in the right place at the right time for the right reason. Perhaps God's providence was indicating that we were not fulfilling our purpose or responsibilities in that particular job or business. Smaller losses can also make us think about God and our relationship with Him. When we face loss, we have a choice to make: we can respond with anger, fear, or resignation, or we can seek to understand God's purposes and reasons for allowing the loss.

The Bible teaches us that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). He often uses difficult circumstances to teach us and to bring us closer to Him. Job, for example, lost everything, including his health and his family, but he ultimately learned to love God for Himself alone. Similarly, Joseph, who was sold into slavery by his brothers, came to understand that God was working everything out for good (Genesis 50:20). We must trust that God is working everything out for our good, even when we don't understand why things are happening.

Ultimately, we must come to a place of surrender and trust in God's sovereignty. We must admit that we have fallen short of God's best for our lives and take responsibility for our choices and sin. We must trust that God is big enough to accomplish all things, even the removal of our earthly possessions, career, or dreams. As we surrender to God's will, we will come to understand that He is working everything out for our good, even when we don't understand why things are happening. We will learn to love Him for Himself alone, and our relationship with Him will be transformed forever.
