What's the point of fighting when everything seems against me?
Fighting is a natural part of life, but it's not always clear what we're fighting for or against. In the Bible, Jesus says, "Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?" (James 4:1). This suggests that the root of conflict is often our own sinful desires and lusts. When we allow these desires to control us, they can lead to conflict and fighting with others. But when we recognize that our true enemy is our own sin, we can begin to fight the right battle - the battle against our own sinful nature. This requires us to get alone with God and seek His guidance and strength, as Paul says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). By seeking God's help, we can overcome our sinful desires and live a life that reflects His love and character.
But how do we know what is right and wrong? How can we discern between good and evil? The Bible says, "Love knows no law" (Romans 13:10). This means that love is the foundation of our actions and decisions. When we are motivated by love, we are more likely to make choices that align with God's will. However, this doesn't mean that we won't face resistance or opposition. In fact, the Bible says, "The world will hate you because it hated me first" (John 15:18). But when we stand firm in our faith and love, we can overcome the opposition and live a life that is pleasing to God. As Jesus says, "Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it" (Matthew 10:39). This means that we must be willing to lose our own desires and interests in order to gain a deeper relationship with God and live a life that reflects His love.
So what's the point of fighting when everything seems against us? The point is not to win a physical battle or to achieve a certain outcome. The point is to stand firm in our faith and love, and to seek God's guidance and strength in the midst of conflict. When we do this, we can overcome our sinful desires and live a life that reflects God's love and character. As the Bible says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). By seeking God's help and standing firm in our faith, we can overcome any obstacle and live a life that is pleasing to Him.
