Your Question:

Can I still find purpose in life if I'm no longer the same person?

Answer:

Your Identity and Purpose

As a Christian, I believe that our identity and purpose are deeply connected to our relationship with God. When we were created, God had a purpose in mind for each of us, and that purpose is to glorify Him and enjoy a personal relationship with Him. Our purpose is not something that we discover on our own, but rather it is something that God reveals to us as we seek Him and His will for our lives. As the Bible says, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10).

However, our identity and purpose can become distorted when we try to find them in other things, such as relationships, accomplishments, or possessions. This can lead to feelings of emptiness and despair, as we try to fill the void left by our pursuit of these things. But when we look to Jesus, we are reminded that our true identity and purpose are found in Him. As the Bible says, "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20). When we surrender our lives to Jesus, we are given a new identity and purpose, one that is rooted in His love and redemption.

As we seek to find our purpose in life, we must focus on Jesus and His will for our lives. We must be willing to let go of our old self and its practices, and put on the new self, which is being renewed in the image of Christ. This is a process that takes time and effort, but it is one that is worth it. As the Bible says, "You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness" (Ephesians 4:22-24). When we live our lives for Jesus and for others, we find true purpose and fulfillment. As the Bible says, "We do not begin to find ourselves until we have become willing to lose ourselves in the service of Christ and of others." (Matthew 10:39).
