Your Question:
Why do I have to live with this pain and suffering?
Answer:
As I reflect on your question, I'm reminded of a passage from the Bible that has brought me comfort in times of suffering. It says, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28) This verse reminds me that even in the midst of pain and suffering, God is working for my good. I have to admit, I've been struggling with feelings of hopelessness and despair, wondering why I have to live with this pain and suffering. But the truth is, I've forgotten that I've done things in the past that have made my pain more tolerable. I've also forgotten that there are people who care about me, like my wife Susan and my children Joshua and Rebecca. They've tried to help me through these difficult times, and I know that if I were to take my own life, they would be forever changed. As a pastor, I've come to realize that suffering is not just about physical pain, but also about feeling like our pain is meaningless. But Scripture teaches us that even in the midst of suffering, God is working to train us to fix our eyes on Him. So, I'm choosing to trust in God, even when I don't understand why I'm suffering. I'm choosing to trust that He is working for my good, and that He will ultimately bring me out of this darkness into the light of His presence.
