The Nature of Faith

Faith, as the Bible teaches it, is faith in God coming against everything that contradicts Him. It is a trust and confidence that says, "I will remain true to God's character whatever He may do." This is the highest and greatest expression of faith in the Bible (Romans 10:17). Faith is believing that what the Lord has said to us will be accomplished. In Romans 4, the apostle Paul wrote that Abraham was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully convinced that what God had promised He was able to perform (Romans 4:20-21). Biblical faith is never a kind of wishful thinking or a vague hope, but rather it is a conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

The Essence of Faith

The essence of faith is putting everything in God's hands and then letting Him tell us what to do. It's doing what God wants us to do, not what we desire (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith is more than intellectual assent; it involves approaching God with confidence in His character and will.
