Biblical Answer

Jesus' teaching about sin leaves no doubt on the matter. He assumed that others were sinful, yet he never found sin in himself. This is evident in his interactions with people, where he forgave their sins, yet never claimed to be sinless himself. Instead, he pointed to his Father as the one who had sent him, and who had given him the power to forgive sins (John 8:29). Jesus also asked his hearers, "Can any of you prove me guilty of sin?" (John 8:46), and no one replied.

The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus never sinned. The apostle Peter wrote that Jesus "committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth" (1 Peter 2:22). John also wrote that Jesus "knew no sin" (2 John 3:5). Paul affirmed that Christ had no sin, and that God made him to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in him (2 Corinthians 5:21). This is consistent with Jesus' own claim that he always did what pleased his Father (John 8:29).

Jesus' sinlessness is not just a matter of his personal character, but also has implications for our understanding of sin and redemption. He took on sinful flesh, but did not sin (Romans 8:3). Through his sinless life, he was able to bear the sins of many, and make us to be the righteousness of God in him (Isaiah 53:11-12, 2 Corinthians 5:21). This is the foundation of our salvation, and the basis for our forgiveness and redemption through faith in him.
