Why did God take my retirement?
God's purpose in our lives is not limited to our professional pursuits or personal interests. He is sovereign over all aspects of our existence, including our retirement. When we resign ourselves to the thought that God has left us high and dry, we dishonor Him and demonstrate a lack of trust in His sovereignty.
God does not abandon us in retirement, nor does He leave us to fend for ourselves. Rather, He continues to work in our lives, guiding and leading us even in our free time. Just as the wealthy landowner in the parable chose to invest his time and resources back into God's kingdom, we too can use our retirement as an opportunity to serve Him and advance His kingdom.
Our relationship with God is not an employer-employee one, but rather a friend-to-friend relationship. He has given us so much, including the gift of life, and asks only that we serve Him with our time, talents, and resources. Even in retirement, we can continue to serve God and make a positive impact on the world around us. By choosing to invest our time and resources back into God's kingdom, we demonstrate our faith and trust in Him, and we can leave a lasting legacy that honors Him.
Job's story is a powerful reminder of God's sovereignty and our need to trust in Him, even in the midst of uncertainty and adversity. Job did not know why God allowed him to suffer, but he trusted in God throughout, and his faith was rewarded. Similarly, when we face challenges in retirement, we can choose to trust in God and seek to serve Him, even in the midst of uncertainty. By doing so, we can demonstrate our faith and leave a lasting legacy that honors Him.
